Support for CE marking of electronic products

Design with EMC and radio in mind, pre-compliance, technical file and the cybersecurity requirements of the RED and the CRA. We're not a test lab: we support you so you reach testing with confidence and, if something fails, we fix it in the hardware or firmware.

What we do

From design to the lab, with no surprises

We're not a notified body or an accredited lab, and we don't issue certificates. We're the engineering team that prepares your product and its documentation so testing goes right the first time, and that fixes whatever fails.

Applicable directives and markets

We work out what applies based on your product and where you'll sell it: EMC, low voltage (LVD), RED if it has radio, RoHS and the Cyber Resilience Act. Plus FCC if the product is going to the United States: certifying for Europe doesn't certify you there.

Designed for EMC and radio

Grounding, filtering, layout and component choice with EMC in mind from the schematic onwards, because most failures are EMC-related. And pre-certified radio modules where they fit, to cut testing, cost and risk.

Pre-compliance

Informal early emissions and immunity tests to catch problems before the official lab, while fixing them is still cheap and doesn't delay the launch.

Technical file and documentation

Schematics, bill of materials, risk assessment, manuals, labelling and a draft EU declaration of conformity: the file you must keep, organised and consistent with the real product.

Cybersecurity: RED (EN 18031) and CRA

Security by design, signed boot and OTA, encryption, credential management, SBOM and a vulnerability management process. We implement it in your firmware, not just document it.

Test lab and failure fixing

We coordinate with the lab of your choice (in Europe or for FCC), prepare the samples and test firmware, and if something doesn't pass we analyse the report and fix the PCB or firmware.

When we can help

Situations where CE marking gets complicated

New product with radio

A device with Bluetooth or WiFi falls under the RED: spectrum, EMC, electrical safety and cybersecurity. We plan it from the design stage so you don't find out at the lab.

You've failed EMC

Emissions over the limit or insufficient immunity. We analyse the lab report, locate the cause and propose the PCB or firmware fix with the least impact.

Connected product facing the CRA

If your device has digital elements, the CRA requires security updates, an SBOM and vulnerability management. We review what's missing and add it.

Product designed by someone else

We audit existing schematics, PCB and firmware, spot EMC and cybersecurity risks and tell you what's worth changing before going to the lab.

Expanding to the United States

To sell a radio device there you need FCC certification (typically Part 15) and an FCC ID on the product. We prepare the product and documentation for the accredited lab.

A startup's first product

If you've never been through CE marking, we explain the process, the timeline and the documentation you need, so certification doesn't stall your launch.

What sets us apart

Product engineers, not just paperwork

A documentation consultant tells you which standard you're failing. We design hardware and firmware every day, so we can go to the root cause: rework the layout that radiates, filter the supply that fails immunity or implement the secure boot and OTA that cybersecurity requires.

Our engineering runs today in over 20,000 devices in the field, many of them with Bluetooth and WiFi.

  • Real fixes in PCB and firmware, not just reports
  • EMC, radio and cybersecurity tackled together
  • Secure OTA and SBOM ready for the CRA
  • Full confidentiality: we work under NDA

How we approach it

  1. AnalyseYour product, your markets and the directives and standards that apply.
  2. Design or reviewHardware and firmware with EMC, radio and cybersecurity in mind.
  3. PreparePre-compliance, technical file, labelling and documentation.
  4. SupportCoordination with the lab and fixing whatever fails.

Common questions

CE marking FAQs

No. We're not a notified body or an accredited lab. Testing is done by a lab and the EU declaration of conformity is signed by the manufacturer. We prepare the product and the documentation, coordinate with the lab of your choice and support you throughout the process.

We analyse the lab report, locate the source of the problem (layout, grounding, filtering, cabling or firmware) and propose the fix with the least impact on cost and schedule. Then we prepare the product to repeat the tests with confidence.

If you sell a product with digital elements in the EU, almost certainly yes. The CRA entered into force in late 2024 and its main obligations apply from 2027, with vulnerability reporting required from 2026. It demands security by design, security updates, an SBOM and vulnerability management, and we help you implement it in your product.

Yes. We audit schematics, PCB, firmware and documentation, even if another team made them, and give you a prioritised list of risks and changes before going to the lab. If you need it, we make those changes too.

If it has radio, FCC certification (typically under Part 15), with testing at an accredited lab and an FCC ID on the product. Certifying for Europe doesn't certify you for the US, but if we plan it from the start much of the design work serves both markets.

Yes. We routinely work under NDA and treat schematics, firmware, test reports and all your product information as confidential.
